The gutka is an important part of an embroidery machine. If it is worn out or damaged, it can affect stitching quality and machine performance.

Here are the basic steps to change the gutka safely.

Changing a gutka is a basic maintenance job, but it should be done carefully. Incorrect fitting can cause thread breakage, poor stitch quality, needle hitting, or hook timing problems.

Here is the basic procedure an embroidery machine operator should follow.

1. Stop the Machine

Stop the machine completely and switch OFF the main power.

Never work on the gutka area while the machine is running.

2. Bring the Head to the Correct Position

Bring the embroidery head to its proper service position so you can easily access the gutka area.

3. Remove the Old Gutka

Open the required hook/gutka area and carefully remove the old gutka.

Keep the screws and small parts safely aside.

Tip: Before removing it, observe how the old gutka is positioned. This makes fitting the new one easier.

4. Clean the Area

Clean the area properly before fitting the new gutka.

Remove:

  • Thread pieces

  • Dust

  • Lint

  • Old oil or dirt

A clean hook area helps the new part work smoothly.

5. Fit the New Gutka

Place the new gutka in the same correct position as the old one.

Tighten the screws properly, but do not over-tighten or force the part.

6. Check the Hook Movement

Before starting the machine, turn the mechanism manually and check that the gutka/hook area moves smoothly.

Make sure there is no rubbing, obstruction, or unusual resistance.

7. Run a Slow Test

Switch the machine ON and first run it at a low speed.

Check for:

  • Thread breaking

  • Needle hitting

  • Unusual sound

  • Uneven stitching

  • Smooth hook movement

If everything is normal, production can be started gradually.

Gutka changing looks like a small job, but incorrect fitting can affect embroidery quality and machine timing.

If you are not sure about the fitting, it is better to take help from an experienced technician.

Regular inspection and timely replacement of worn parts can help keep your embroidery machine running smoothly and reduce unexpected downtime.
